Testing for the new coronavirus in the Canton of Basel-Stadt is normally done at the University Hospital of Basel without appointment at Klingelbergstrasse 30 (new testing and triage centre, TTC). Arrive in a private vehicle if possible, parking at Ausgang [exit] Schanzenstrasse. Opening hours weekdays, Monday to Friday from 09.00 until 17.00, Saturday and Sunday from 09.00 until 13.00.
From January 3, 2022 all children without symptoms or with mild symptoms who do not require a pediatrician's evaluation must be tested at the University Hospital Basel (USB). The need for a test must be clarified in advance with a pediatrician. The test at the USB is only possible with a prior online appointment booking.
Other medical practices and institutions also perform coronavirus swabbing. You can find a list in the last section of this page.
Since November 2021, the Hirslanden Group's nationwide "Pool Tests for all" program is available, through which individuals can participate in pooled PCR saliva testing. Read more here.

Institutions that conduct coronavirus swabbing
Please find below maps with marked institutions that offer testing for the new coronavirus in addition to the Test and Triage Center of the University Hospital Basel (TTC, see above). To protect employees and other patients, we recommend to call the institutions in advance. This does not apply for the TTC mentioned above.
Children under 12 years of age
Children under 12 years of age can be tested in pharmacies. We recommend this especially for children without symptoms (e.g. as part of testing during quarantine). Symptomatic children should ideally be examined by a pediatrician.
Testing facilities for children
The following institutions are specialized in coronavirus swabbing for children. Please consider these addresses in the first instance. Children as of 6 months without symptoms can be tested at the Test and Triage Center of the University Hospital (TTC).
Note: In the UKBB, children as of 6 months are only tested if they show severe symptoms.
Testing facilities for adults
Please note that some practices only test their patients. These institutions are marked with a red dot.
