Coronavirus daily bulletin: 609 confirmed cases in the Canton of Basel-Stadt

As of 10.00 on Sunday, 29 March 2020, the Department of Health Basel-Stadt announced a total of 609 positive cases among people living in the Canton of Basel-Stadt, as well as a further two deaths.

As of 10.00 on Thursday, 29 March 2020, there are a total of 609 positive cases among people living in the Canton of Basel-Stadt. That is 36 more than on the previous day. Of the 609 positive tested cases, 228 people, therefore over a third, have recovered.

The canton of Basel-Stadt announced two more deaths because of an infection with Covid-19. The deceased women were both in the at-risk group (older than 65 years and a pre-existing condition). They were 87 and 88 years old. This brings the number of deaths in the Canton of Basel-Stadt to fifteen.

In addition to testing residents of the canton, suspected cases from other Swiss cantons and other countries close to the border are also being tested in the Canton of Basel-Stadt. 982 people have tested positive so far (including the 609 Basel cases).

65 residents of the Canton of Basel-Stadt are currently being treated in a Basel-Stadt hospital because of a Covid-19 infection. A total of 87 persons are in hospital. Twelve people in total require intensive care. The other patients are in the normal ward.
