Coronavirus daily bulletin: 534 confirmed cases in the Canton of Basel-Stadt

As of 10.00 on Friday, 27 March 2020, the Department of Health Basel-Stadt announced a total of 534 positive cases among people living in the Canton of Basel-Stadt, as well as one further death.

As of 10.00 on Friday, 27 March 2020, there are a total of 534 positive cases among people living in the Canton of Basel-Stadt. That is 29 more than on the previous day. Of the 534 people who tested positive, 191 persons, therefore over a third, have recovered.

The canton of Basel-Stadt announced one more death because of an infection with Covid-19. The deceased woman also was in the at-risk group (older than 65 years and a pre-existing condition). This brings the number of deaths in the Canton of Basel-Stadt to thirteen.

In addition to testing residents of the canton, suspected cases from other Swiss cantons and other countries close to the border are also being tested in the Canton of Basel-Stadt. Around 877 people have tested positive so far (including the 534 Basel cases).

A total of 76 persons are currently being treated in a Basel-Stadt hospital because of a Covid-19 infection. 57 of these people are residents of the Canton of Basel-Stadt. Eight people in total require intensive care. The other patients are in the normal ward.
