Building site inspections
To protect the health of construction workers, mixed teams from the Office of Economy and Labour (AWA), the Office for Migration [Migrationsamt], the Department of Health and the Cantonal Police have been conducting building site inspections for several days. Several building sites a day are subject to random, unannounced inspections. The teams from the Canton of Basel-Stadt are checking on working conditions for construction workers, using the checklist from the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), and on adherence to hygiene measures in accordance with guidelines from the Federal Office of Public Health. They will discuss complaints with the site managers and – if necessary – announce a follow-up inspection for the following day. Most construction firms are implementing the required regulations on working, conduct and hygiene.

Please note that the number of positive cases according to may differ.
