Coronavirus daily bulletin: 376 confirmed cases in the Canton of Basel-Stadt

As of 10.00 on Monday, 23 March 2020, the Department of Health Basel-Stadt announced a total of 376 positive cases among people living in the Canton of Basel-Stadt.
As of 10.00 on Monday, 23 March 2020, there are a total of 376 positive cases among people living in the Canton of Basel-Stadt. That is 18 more than on the previous day. The number of deaths recorded in the Canton of Basel-Stadt remains unchanged at five. 78 people have recovered. 56 unwell Basel residents are currently receiving hospital treatment as a result of infection with Covid-19 (coronavirus).
In addition to testing residents of the canton, suspected cases from other Swiss cantons and other countries close to the border are also being tested in the Canton of Basel-Stadt. Around 652 people have tested positive so far (including the 376 Basel cases).
The Basel-Stadt Civil Defence Organisation is currently fulfilling 18 tasks on behalf of the healthcare sector in nursing homes, as well as two tasks from the management of the Department of Health. A total of 30 members of the Civil Defence Organisation are being used for these tasks. In nursing homes, members of the Civil Defence Organisation are fulfilling tasks to relieve pressure on the very stretched nursing staff, in the spheres of entry checks, support with logistical matters and reduced care tasks. In addition, the Civil Defence Organisation is also fulfilling two tasks from the University Hospital of Basel and University Children’s Hospital Basel, with a total of ten members from the organisation.
