Healthcare institutions come together to fight coronavirus
Joint press release from the Department of Health Basel-Stadt and the Department of Health and Economic Affairs of the Canton of Basel-Landschaft
Department of Health
Both health directors, Thomas Weber and Lukas Engelberger, and their senior managers met yesterday with the senior managers of healthcare associations from both cantons. The meeting focused on exchanging information, clarifying requirements and introducing coordinated measures to tackle coronavirus in the joint healthcare region.
Representatives of Spitex associations, Curaviva nursing home associations, both medical associations, the Swiss Association of Junior Doctors and Consultants [Verband Schweizerischer Assistenz- und Oberärztinnen und -ärzte], the Swiss Professional Association of Nurses and Carers [Schweizer Berufsverband der Pflegefachfrauen und Pflegefachmänner] from both cantons, private hospitals from Basel-Stadt and Basel-Landschaft, the Hospitals’ Association of Northwestern Switzerland [Vereinigung Nordwestschweizerischer Spitäler], Basel-Land Cantonal Hospital [Kantonsspital Basel-Land] and the University Hospital of Basel, as well as Physioswiss beider Basel, attended the meeting at the invitation of both health directors. Experts from both departments were also present at the meeting.
The exchange has shown that the institutions are already successfully cooperating together. It was possible to clear up questions about interfaces and for the attendees to share their requirements (instructions, information and exchange of staff, appliances and equipment). The priority objective is now to implement the measures discussed as quickly and effectively as possible, so as to be able to fight the further spread of coronavirus together.
