Coronavirus daily bulletin: 917 confirmed cases in the Canton of Basel-Stadt

As of 09:00 on Thursday, 16 April 2020, the Department of Health Basel-Stadt announced a total of 917 positive cases among people living in the Canton of Basel-Stadt, as well as one further death.

As of 09:00 on Thursday, 16 April 2020, there are a total of 917 positive cases among people living in the Canton of Basel-Stadt. That is eight more than on the previous day. Of the 917 positive cases, 711 people, therefore over three fourths of it, have recovered.

Another person has died because of a Covid-19 infection in the Canton of Basel-Stadt. The deceased man was in the at-risk group (aged over 65 and/or pre-existing condition). He was 87 years old. This now brings the total number of deaths in the Canton of Basel-Stadt to 37.

In addition to testing residents of the canton, suspected cases from other Swiss cantons and other countries close to the border are also being tested in the Canton of Basel-Stadt. 1416 people have tested positive so far (including the 17 Basel cases).

54 residents of the Canton of Basel-Stadt are currently being treated in a Basel-Stadt hospital because of a Covid-19 infection. A total of 76 persons are in hospital. Six people in total require intensive care. The other patients are in the normal ward.
