Coronavirus daily bulletin: 691 confirmed cases in the Canton of Basel-Stadt

As of 10.00 on Wednesday, 01 April 2020, the Department of Health Basel-Stadt announced a total of 691 positive cases among people living in the Canton of Basel-Stadt, as well as a further two deaths. The number of positive cases must be revised upward on this occasion on the basis of an additional laboratory report.

As of 10.00 on Wednesday, 01 April 2020, there are a total of 691 positive cases among people living in the Canton of Basel-Stadt. Of the 691 positive cases, 323 people, therefore over 45 percent, have recovered.

The difference in the number of people who have tested positive compared with yesterday is 63. 29 of these 63 can be attributed to the additional report from a laboratory. The actual increase from yesterday to today amounts to 34.

The Department of Health Basel-Stadt shows the revised figure for the cumulative reports in the diagram below. The curve can still be seen to be flattening out.

There have been a further two deaths due to Covid-19 in the Canton of Basel-Stadt. A 61-year-old man and an 84-year-old woman with pre-existing conditions have died. This now brings the total number of deaths in the Canton of Basel-Stadt to 18.

In addition to testing residents of the canton, suspected cases from other Swiss cantons and other countries close to the border are also being tested in the Canton of Basel-Stadt. 1095 people have tested positive so far (including the 691 Basel cases).

88 residents of the Canton of Basel-Stadt are currently being treated in a Basel-Stadt hospital because of a Covid-19 infection. There are 108 people in total. 16 people in total require intensive care. The other patients are in the normal ward.
