Coronavirus: Update on daycare facility case in Riehen

The Department of Health has provided the following update on its contact with the families affected by the quarantine measures.

Last updated at 21:00 on Friday, 28 February 2020:

Out of the 76 children affected, it was able to reach 75 families by phone and inform them of the obligatory quarantine measures. All of the families received the quarantine measures by email and were sent a personalised version by post (sent on the 28th of February 2020).

The Department of Health sent masks on the 28th of February 2020 to all of the families who needed protective masks.

A brief informative letter was sent to all of the families with a child attending the daycare facility but who were not in contact with the facility from Monday the 24th of February 2020 to Wednesday the 26th of February 2020, and this was sent by post as well.

The majority of parents involved have been very understanding and cooperative with the measures, and they were especially grateful for the masks sent over.

As of 28.02.2020, at 21:00, six children are undergoing treatment for flu-like symptoms at the University Children’s hospital Basel.

The Medical Services of the Department of Health will try to contact the last family again on Saturday the 29th February 2020.

The Medical Services of the Department of Health will continue to make daily contact with the 75 families it has already spoken to, on Saturday the 29th February 2020. The cantonal medical service will enquire about the children’s health on a daily basis.
