Testing concept in the Canton of Basel-Stadt
The Department of Health is currently working on a concept for extending preventive testing into several spheres. The plan is to also offer testing in schools, businesses, sociomedical institutions and for the general population in risk situations. Testing will be specifically intensified in the event of any outbreaks in schools until the concept is in place. This should mean that contact tracing is augmented and reinforced by child and adolescent health services in the event of any outbreaks in schools.
The Department of Health thinks that targeted wider testing in the spheres mentioned is a sensible idea. The most targeted approach possible should be taken in order to achieve a good cost-benefit ratio and to use the available laboratory capacity as efficiently as possible.
