Lifting of the general decision in Steinenvorstadt

The temporary general decision “general compulsory mask wearing and the ban on consuming food and beverages on common ground in Steinenvorstadt” of 19 April 2021 (extended on 28 May 2021) will be lifted on Saturday, 26 June 2021.

In view of what at the time was a fragile epidemiological situation, the Department of Health Basel-Stadt, Medical Services (Medizinische Dienste), ordered general compulsory mask wearing and a ban on consuming food and beverages on common ground in Steinenvorstadt by means of the general decision of 19 April 2021. This measure came into force at 00:00 on 19 April 2021 and remained in force until 31 May 2021 at the latest. On 28 May 2021 it was extended until 30 June 2021.

In the intervening period, the Federal Council passed further relaxations on 26 June 2021. Measures to tackle the coronavirus are being greatly reduced and simplified from Saturday, 26 June 2021 (cf. press release from the Federal Council of 23 June 2021). For instance, the requirement to work from home and
 compulsory mask wearing outdoors are being lifted. In view of these further relaxations on 26 June 2021, the general decision of the Medical Services of 19 April 2021, or rather 28 May 2021, is being lifted on 26 June 2021.
