Coronavirus bulletin: Current case numbers in Basel-Stadt – status of Covid Certificates

As of Tuesday, 22 June 2021, 10.20, the Department of Health Basel-Stadt had recorded a total of 12,950 positive cases among people living in the Canton of Basel-Stadt since the start of the pandemic, 95 active cases in isolation and 208 people in quarantine. The 7-day notification rate per 100,000 residents is 9 (CH: 10), the 14-day notification rate is 25 (CH: 34). 170,012 vaccinations have so far been administered in Basel-Stadt. 69,508 people have been fully vaccinated with the first and second vaccination. 68,000 fully vaccinated people can now claim their Covid Certificate. In addition, around 1,020 people who have recovered from Covid-19 have requested a certificate from the Federal Government.

Occurrence of infection in the Canton of Basel-Stadt: Of the 95 active cases, six residents of the Canton of Basel-Stadt are in hospital. Furthermore, a further four people from outside the canton or abroad are being treated in hospital in the Canton of Basel-Stadt. Of the total of ten people in hospital, three require intensive care

The total of 12,950 cases of infection in the Canton of Basel-Stadt since the start of the pandemic consists of 12,650 recoveries, 205 deaths and 95 active cases. There have been seven new cases of infection since the last bulletin on Friday, 18 June 2021. No further people have died of the consequences of Covid-19.

Status of vaccinations

Around 7,870 vaccinations have been administered since the last bulletin of Friday, 18 June 2021. There are currently around 11,400 people on the waiting list.

As of yesterday, Monday 21 June 2021, a total of 170,012 vaccinations had been administered in the Canton of Basel-Stadt. 69,508 people have been fully vaccinated with the first and second vaccination.

Status of Covid Certificates

68,000 fully vaccinated people in the Canton of Basel-Stadt can now claim their Covid Certificate. They will receive an SMS or letter with a link that they can use to download a PDF file and load it into the Covid Certificate app using the QR code.

People vaccinated after 21 June 2021 will receive the certificate digitally as a PDF or, if required, can have it issued at the vaccination centre itself.

In addition, around 1,020 people from the Canton of Basel-Stadt who have recovered from Covid-19 have requested a Covid Certificate from the Federal Government. Around 660 of these certificates have been issued directly from the Federal Government. The Federal Government was unable to assign around 360 applications. These are currently being processed manually by the Department of Health to allow people to claim their Covid Certificates soon. Furthermore, the Basel Contact Tracing Team issued around 30 Covid Certificates to people who have recently recovered from Covid and who have completed their isolation period, as well as around 20 Covid Certificates as part of the certificate pilot phase.

Please note:

The rhythm of delivery of data about hospitalisations in connection with Covid-19 is being adjusted and data will only be delivered from Monday to Friday in future. This adjustment is due to the current Covid-19 situation and the falling number of Covid-19 patients requiring hospitalisation. Hospitalisation figures that were recorded on Saturday and Sunday will now be recorded in the system on Mondays and then published.
