Coronavirus bulletin: Current case numbers in Basel-Stadt

As of Tuesday, 18 May 2021, 10.40, the Department of Health Basel-Stadt had recorded a total of 12,602 positive cases among people living in the Canton of Basel-Stadt since the start of the pandemic, 244 active cases in isolation and 401 people in quarantine. The 7-day notification rate per 100,000 residents is 69 (CH: 68), the 14-day notification rate is 216 (CH: 185). Over 92,000 vaccinations have so far been administered in Basel-Stadt. More than 27,500 people have been fully vaccinated with the first and second vaccination.
Occurrence of infection in the Canton of Basel-Stadt: Of the 244 active cases, 12 residents of the Canton of Basel-Stadt are in hospital. In addition, a further 12 people from outside the canton or abroad are being treated in hospital in the Canton of Basel-Stadt. Of the total of 24 people in hospital, eight require intensive care.
The total of 12,602 cases of infection in the Canton of Basel-Stadt since the start of the pandemic consists of 12,156 recoveries, 202 deaths and 244 active cases. There have been 59 new cases of infection since the last bulletin on Wednesday, 14 April 2021. A 94-year-old man has died in hospital as a result of Covid-19. Four residents from two care and nursing homes in Basel-Stadt are currently ill with Covid-19.
Status of vaccinations
Over 7,700 vaccinations have been administered since the last bulletin of Friday, 18 May 2021. In addition, around 42,500 people currently have an appointment in the vaccination centre. The total number of people on the waiting list is currently just under 41,000.
As of yesterday, Monday 17 May 2021, a total of 92,092 vaccinations had been administered in the Canton of Basel-Stadt. 27,576 people have been fully vaccinated with the first and second vaccination.
