Coronavirus bulletin: Current case numbers in Basel-Stadt – forecast for vaccination appointments

As of Friday, 11 June 2021, 10.20, the Department of Health Basel-Stadt had recorded a total of 12,917 positive cases among people living in the Canton of Basel-Stadt since the start of the pandemic, 126 active cases in isolation and 224 people in quarantine. The 7-day notification rate per 100,000 residents is 25 (CH: 26), the 14-day notification rate is 68 (CH: 74). In total, 149,196 vaccination doses have so far been administered in Basel-Stadt. 57,222 people have been fully vaccinated with the first and second vaccination. The vaccination centre’s website now also gives a forecast of when people who registered by 7 June 2021 can expect a vaccination appointment.

Occurrence of infection in the Canton of Basel-Stadt: Of the 126 active cases, five residents of the Canton of Basel-Stadt are in hospital. In addition, four people from outside the canton or abroad are being treated in hospital in the Canton of Basel-Stadt. Of the total of nine people in hospital, three require intensive care.

The total of 12,917 cases of infection in the Canton of Basel-Stadt since the start of the pandemic consists of 12,586 recoveries, 205 deaths and 126 active cases. There have been 25 new cases of infection since the last bulletin on Tuesday, 08 June 2021. No further people have died of the consequences of Covid-19.

Current status of vaccinations

As of yesterday Thursday, 10 June 2021, a total of 149,196 vaccinations have so far been administered in the vaccination centre, in the hospitals and by the mobile units in the Canton of Basel-Stadt (total for the previous week: 132,702). 57,222 people have been fully vaccinated with the first and second vaccination (total for the previous week: 47,741).

As of yesterday evening, 23,743 people had pre-registered for vaccination.

For the current week (07/06 to 13/06), 13,365 vaccination appointments were allocated in the vaccination centre (previous week: 18,610).

Forecast for vaccination appointments on the website

The vaccination centre’s website now gives a forecast of when people who have registered can expect a vaccination appointment. Anybody who registered by the deadline of 7 June 2021 can find their forecast vaccination appointment at www.coronaimpfzentrumbasel.ch/prognose-impftermin/. People who have registered have also been sent an email. According to the forecast, people who registered by the deadline of 7 June 2021 will receive their first vaccination appointment by calendar week 27 (5 to 11 July 2021).

Vaccination appointments are basically allocated by time of registration – the earlier the registration; the earlier the appointment. Priority will still be given to vaccination registrations by the over-65s, people with pre-existing conditions in the highest risk category and healthcare workers who are in direct and regular contact with patients.

The current situation in Basel schools

Primary schools and nurseries (total of 12,814 pupils and 1,906 teachers)

  • 63 pupils in quarantine or self-isolation, corresponding to 0.5 percent.
  • 9 teachers in quarantine or self-isolation, corresponding to 0.5 percent.

Secondary schools (total of 4,343 pupils and 650 teachers)

  • 28 pupils in quarantine or self-isolation, corresponding to 0.6 percent.
  • No teachers in quarantine or self-isolation.

Higher secondary schools and vocational colleges (total of 7,400 pupils and 1,170 teachers)

  • 9 pupils in quarantine or self-isolation, corresponding to 0.1 percent.
  • 3 teachers in quarantine or self-isolation, corresponding to 0.3 percent.

Please note: 
The rhythm of delivery of data about hospitalisations in connection with Covid-19 is being adjusted and data will only be delivered from Monday to Friday in future. This adjustment is due to the current Covid-19 situation and the falling number of Covid-19 patients requiring hospitalisation. Hospitalisation figures that were recorded on Saturday and Sunday will now be recorded in the system on Mondays and then published.
