Press release
Department of Health

Due to delays in delivery of the vaccine, the Canton of Basel-Stadt is having to postpone first vaccination appointments for Thursday and Friday, 4 and 5 February 2021 to the beginning of next week. Appointments for second vaccinations for next week will take place as arranged.

The situation regarding vaccination appointments in the Canton of Basel-Stadt is as follows:

Vaccination appointments for second vaccinations for next week in the Canton of Basel-Stadt will take place as arranged. The Department of Health is getting the promised quantity of vaccine from the Federal Government. This concerns second vaccinations with the Pfizer/Biontech vaccine.

As recently communicated by the Federal Government, the Moderna vaccine will only arrive next weekend and not during this time. As in other cantons, vaccination appointments for first vaccinations for Thursday and Friday, 4 and 5 February 2021 are having to be postponed until the beginning of next week. Staff at the vaccination centre will contact everybody who has a vaccination appointment on these two days and arrange new vaccination time slots (same time, four days later). The vaccine for first vaccinations for tomorrow, Wednesday, 3 February 2021, is already being stored at the vaccination centre, so appointments for tomorrow, Wednesday, will go ahead.

On the basis of the current quota allocations, we are confident that we will be able to keep to vaccination appointments for first vaccinations that have already been arranged for the last week of February.

All of these first vaccinations are for people who have received the information letter sent to Basel-Stadt residents aged 75 and over.
